Jun Murai<\/a> (Internet) of Keio University, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.jp\/i-mode-Strategy-Takeshi-Natsuno\/dp\/product-description\/0470851015\" target=\"_blank\">Takeshi Natsuno <\/a>(iMode)&#160; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heiz%C5%8D_Takenaka\" target=\"_blank\">Heizo Takenaka<\/a> (Economy)&#160; were on the same plane.&#160; I arrived at the hotel in Davos at about 10:30pm, a bit tired.<\/p>\n<p>Leaders of a number of Asian nations were scheduled to come this year, but I was somewhat concerned about political leaders from Japan since the timing always overlaps with the Diet session, and moreover the \u2018politics and economy\u2019 are catching people\u2019s attention especially as a hot topic this year.&#160; But in the end, I was relieved to learn that 3 Ministers may come.<\/p>\n<p>The programs and details of the meeting are available at the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.weforum.org\/en\/events\/AnnualMeeting2010\/Wednesday27\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> web site of WEF<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>On 27th, I attended the morning, session \u2018Germs and Globalization\u2019 and afternoon, session \u2018Arts, Culture and the Digital Age\u2019.&#160; In \u2018Arts\u2026..\u2019, I was particularly impressed by the presentation <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Maeda\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. John Maeda&#160; <\/a>(<a href=\"https:\/\/kiyoshikurokawa.com\/en\/jp\/2008\/01\/4-4f24.html\">Ref.1<\/a>) (Photos below), a Nisei, former Professor of the Media Lab of MIT, currently the President of Rhodes Island School of Design.&#160; He is highly accomplished and loved by everybody, and appears in many sessions this year\u2019s WEF.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kiyoshikurokawa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/typepad\/6a0120a68acfd6970b0120a824c148970b-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\uff2d\uff41\uff45\uff44\uff41\uff11\u3000IMG_2079\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a0120a68acfd6970b0120a824c148970b \" src=\"https:\/\/kiyoshikurokawa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/typepad\/6a0120a68acfd6970b0120a824c148970b-800wi.jpg\" style=\"width: 282px;height: 211px\" title=\"\uff2d\uff41\uff45\uff44\uff41\uff11\u3000IMG_2079\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/kiyoshikurokawa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/typepad\/6a0120a68acfd6970b01287727dcb4970c-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\uff2d\uff41\uff45\uff44\uff41\uff12\u3000IMG_2070\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a0120a68acfd6970b01287727dcb4970c \" src=\"https:\/\/kiyoshikurokawa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/typepad\/6a0120a68acfd6970b01287727dcb4970c-800wi.jpg\" style=\"width: 282px;height: 210px\" title=\"\uff2d\uff41\uff45\uff44\uff41\uff12\u3000IMG_2070\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Dr. John Maeda<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon there was \u2018World Economic Forum Brainstorming; Redefining the Global Commons\u2019.&#160;&#160; It was quite an interesting theme, but too many participants caused the session to become somewhat not well focused, at least that was the impression I had.&#160; The Ideas Lab of MIT was too packed and I regretfully had to miss the event. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.weforum.org\/en\/events\/AnnualMeeting2010\/Wednesday27\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">President Nicolas Sarkozy&#160;<\/a> (Top Photo) gave plenary speech in the evening delivered with a lot of enthusiasm.&#160; After the speech we listened to the piano by<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lang_Lang_%28pianist%29\" target=\"_blank\"> Lang Lang<\/a> , a beautiful performance.<\/p>\n<p>In the evening, I participated in the panel \u2018The Rise of Asia\u2019 with Mr. Kuroda, President of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and a few others.&#160; The challenge in these panels (and of course elsewhere and anywhere) is how you connect with people; send out messages with wit, in a short and clear manner.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting of this year was again filled with many new encounters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2192Japanese President Sarkozy On 26th, I left Narita to Davos to attend the World Economic Forum, which has now become an annual event for me.&#160; This time the flight was to Zurich via Frankfurt.&#160; Drs.
